It refers to several lawsuits existing for the same cause, facts and issues. Generally one of the party involved is same for all the lawsuits. All these several lawsuits are joined together as one by the judges order so as to be fair and practical because if different judgements are given for different suits, it will contradict each other for the same type of case.
